With the largest purse in Texas criterium racing, over $25,000, McKinney’s 6th annual Bike the Bricks delivers non-stop thrills, and the occasional spills, in a one-of-a-kind bike race in Historic Downtown McKinney. Over 500 riders will challenge the mile long, L shaped course that features hairpin turns and straightaways where the top riders easily hit 40 mph.
It’s not just about the racing - Beginning at 3 pm with the start of the first race, the downtown square proper takes on a festive feel featuring live music, bike demos, foodie options, an expo area, Texas wines and craft beers on tap. New in 2016 is the first ever “McKinney EggFest” by Kitchenwares on the Square in conjunction with Bike The Bricks -Extending on Louisiana Street just east of the square, 20 cooking teams will vie for bragging rights as they “take it to the streets” with Big Green Egg USA smokers and grills.
